12th INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN!


We are pleased to inform you and your institution that the 12th International Youth Day (IYD) Celebration and Youth and Educators Summit for the Millennium Development Goals (YES4MDGs!) is scheduled on August 3-7, 2011 at the Sarabia Manor Hotel and Convention Center, Iloilo City, Philippines. The 12th IYD celebration is spearheaded by the United Nations Association of the Philippines and United Nations Youth Associations of the Philippines with endorsement from Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Department of Education (DepEd), National Youth Commission (NYC), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), and the UNESCO National Commission of the Philippines.

Stand Up, Take Action (SUTA) Exhibit at EDSA Shangrila Mall Opened






HRH Prince Frederick Von Saxe-Launberg, Founding President of the Children of the World 2000 from Germany led the ribbon cutting ceremony of the opening of the Stand Up, Take Action Exhibit at the EDSA Shangri-La Mall last May 5, 2009. The exhibit was sponsored by the UN Millennium Campaign in the Philippines, United Nations Information Center (UNIC) and United Nations Association of the Philippines (UNAP). The opening rites was also graced by Senator Many Villar as represented by former Congressman of Cavite Gilbert Remulla and Ms. Ana Elzy Ofreneo of the Commission on Human Rights and UNAP Board member. The exhibit was mounted in conjunction with the World Creative Youth Forum (WCYF) that is currently being held at the UP NCPAG Auditorium from May 5-10, 2009. Prof. Serafin A. Arviola Jr., UNAP Board Member gave a presentation about the campaign among the 150 local and foreign delegates of WCYF from Asia, Europe, Africa and North America.

The Stand Up, Take Action against Poverty for the Millennium Development Goals popularly knows as SUTA is a three day global mobilization to send a loud and clear message from citizen to leaders of rich and poor countries to take urgent action to achieve the MDGs. The activities will coincide with the international celebration of the UN World Food Day (October 16) and the Un International Day for Poverty Eradication (October 17). Last year’s campaign registered 116 million people mobilized around the world. The Philippines broke all records with more than 1/3 of its population Standing Up and Taking Action against poverty (35.2 million Filipinos). The campaign this year will take place on October 16-18, 2009 with special focus on mobilizing policy makers to take concrete actions for the passage of important legislation to achieve the targets of the MDGs.
