We are pleased to inform you and your institution that the 12th International Youth Day (IYD) Celebration and Youth and Educators Summit for the Millennium Development Goals (YES4MDGs!) is scheduled on August 3-7, 2011 at the Sarabia Manor Hotel and Convention Center, Iloilo City, Philippines. The 12th IYD celebration is spearheaded by the United Nations Association of the Philippines and United Nations Youth Associations of the Philippines with endorsement from Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Department of Education (DepEd), National Youth Commission (NYC), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), and the UNESCO National Commission of the Philippines.

Search for UNAP Outstanding Youth Leaders (10th International Youth Day Celebration) Awarding Ceremony: Malacanang Palace August 7, 2009

The purpose of the UNAP Outstanding Youth Service Award (UNAP-OYSA) is to recognize and promote the positive achievements of young Filipinos aged between 15-35 years old.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES:

  • To acknowledge & highlight the achievements of young Filipinos.
  • To educate the general public with examples of youth achievement.
  • To encourage & motivate young Filipinos at all levels in their chosen field of endeavors.
  • To develop a sense of pride in being a Filipino.
  • To build self-confidence through rewards for excellence.
  • To develop and encourage leadership and life skills in young Filipinos.

AWARDS CATEGORY

The awards recognize the achievements of Filipino youths in the following categories:


  • Arts
  • Community Service
  • Differently-Abled Youth (D.A.Y.)
  • Education
  • Environment
  • Outstanding Young Indigenous Achiever
  • Science & Technology
  • Sports
  • Media and ICT
  • Military and Security
  • Entertainment
  • Politics and Youth Participation
  • Peace and Human Rights
NOMINATIONS & CRITERIA

· To enter the Awards program you must first be nominated during the call for nomination phase. Each category has three finalists but one finalist with the most number of points shall be announced as winner during the Awards Presentation of the International Youth Day Celebration opening/closing ceremony.

· All winners shall be notified in advance and will make sure will attend the 10th International Youth Day Celebration and MDG Youth Summit on August 5-7, 2009. Failure to register as official delegate to the 10th IYD will forfeit the awards. All finalist shall be provided free registration, free board and lodging and food during the IYD.


GENERAL CRITERIA


· Academic achievements
· Personal goals and other achievements
· Degree of difficulty and sacrifices made to achieve, past and in the future
· Personal interests and involvement in the wider community
· Contribution and service to society
· Sample of publications, awards, certificates, photos, etc.

CRITERIA FOR EVALUATION

Innovation (30 points)

  • The development of a new approach or dimension to projects at the local, regional and/ or national level;
  • The introduction of a novel approach to deal with long-standing issue at the local regional and/ or national level;
  • The offering of a service to the community that no one had thought of before;

Leadership (50 points)

  • Demonstration of leadership through concrete outcomes or through a strong commitment and contribution at he local, regional and/or national level;
  • The undertaking of activities which have inspired people to develop, show initiative and exercise their potential;
  • The spearheading of groups to take up projects which have had a significant impact to communities;

Partnership (20 points)
  • The creation of partnership with or among community groups, the business community or other rural/urban stakeholders which have produced concrete outcomes;
  • The building of cooperative relationships between people which have strengthened the notion that teamwork is valued;
  • The fostering of cooperation between/among groups that had not previously worked together;

Condition of Entry:


  • Entry into the UNAP Outstanding Youth Service Award is free and open to all men and women between 15-35 years of age.
  • Nominees must be Filipino citizens and reside in the Philippines of nomination for at least 2 years.
  • Complete the official Nomination Form
  • Review the Set Criteria and Category Criteria
  • Using the Category Criteria determine the most suitable category (nominees may enter more than one category, however, we require a separate application for each)
  • Prepare a summary of the nominee using the criteria provided ( maximum of 2,000 words ) - included in this summary should be a 100 word profile hat can be used for media purposes
  • Attach relevant newspaper articles, awards, certificates, photographs, etc.
  • Provide four ( 4 ) recent, different, clear photographs labeled with the nominee’s full name and address
  • Forward the original nomination form and one single-sided photocopy.
  • Nomination and contents will remain the property of the UNAP Outstanding Youth Service Award Program and will not be returned. All nominees for the program will receive a certificate of nomination.
  • Nominations may only be made on the official form, by mail and e-mail. An original and one complete copy should be forwarded with the nomination.

  • Nominees agree to allow the organizers to use their nomination information for publicity purposes. The Awards Committee’s decision is final and irrevocable. Appeals will not be entertained.
